I Have Recently Received A Cash Inheritance From The Sale Of Bulgarian Assets, Am I Subject To Any Uk Tax?
I am a bulgarian citizen, but have lived in the UK for a number of years and have a UK resident status as far as the Taxman is concerned.
The inheritance comes from the sale of my deceased mother’s property in Bulgaria. My mother was a bulgarian citizen and has never been to the UK.
The inheritance is much less than the UK IHT threshold of £285000 and comes in euros – cash, but the property took a few months to sell after her death.
What happens IF I bring the amount in question to the UK?
I am now looking forward to your responses.
Many thanks.

Ant IHT due would have been paid in Bulgaria before funds are remitted to you. (Assuming the estate went through probate there.) There is no UK tax liability on these monies.
